You earn currency as you blast through waves or take down those massive bosses, which means eventually you can buy other ships (and yes, the firing style does change things up more than you’d expect). Sometimes I found myself pausing after a defeat—okay, what did I miss this time? Well, usually it came down to how I used my weapons or timing dodges in those hectic moments. It’s interesting how the game doesn’t overcomplicate itself with upgrades: there’s enough variety between the ships already.
